JOIN US FOR RISE & SHINE SUP YOGA IN RYE HARBOR! This class will begin at 10:30 AM.

Challenge yourself by taking your practice to the water.

Yoga and stand up paddleboarding (sup) just happen to go together very well. Doing yoga on a paddleboard enhances the yoga workout. The paddleboard makes a fine yoga mat and the extra balance required by being on the water intensifies the yoga routine. The peacefulness and tranquility of floating on the water combines nicely with the meditative nature of yoga.

Increase focus & concentration. Increase balance & core strength. Connect with nature. Challenge your practice with SUP YO!

Free parking is available just before the Rye Harbor State Park. Pull off the road and park in the dirt lot/boat launch.

  • Space is limited to 10 students.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to class. Class is 75 minutes in length.
  • Register as BYOB when supplying your own SUP, Paddle & Anchor.
  • Visit KNOW BEFORE YOU GO for more info on what to where/bring/etc.

2017 Annual Special Olympics Penguin Plunge

Sunday, February 5th, 2017

Hampton Beach, NH

Thank you for taking the Plunge
and for supporting Special Olympics!
We want the Plunge to be a simple and fun experience for everyone.  Follow the steps below and you’ll be ready for your first Plunge!  Have questions or concerns along the way…we’re here to help!

1. Register

  • You must pay a $50 fee (non-refundable) when registering which counts toward your fundraising minimum of $350.
  • A Plunger is a person who goes into the water at the Plunge.  A Pampered Penguin does not.

2. Fundraise

  • Create a fundraising page and share it with everyone you know!
  • The most important step to raising money is asking.  If you don’t ask, people won’t donate to your Plunge.  Ask everyone you know…friends, family, co-worker, employer, your dentist, trainer, mailman…EVERYONE!
  • Looking for a little motivation?  Check out our incentives or watch a video about Special Olympics New Hampshire athletes Bonnie, Jasmine and Charlie.

3. Check-In

  • Everyone must check-in before 11am on Plunge Day.
  • Go to a remote check-in site to avoid long lines on Plunge Day.
  • If you are under 18, a parent/guardian must sign your waiver.

4. Plunge

  • Bring loose, warm clothes to change into after you Plunge.
  • Wear something on your feet (old sneakers, wool socks) when you Plunge.
  • Get dressed up.  This year’s theme is under the sea!

We’re here to Help!

  • Call us at (603) 624-1250.
  • Text Bridget Carleton at (603) 969-9572.

2017 High School Penguin Plunge Hampton Beach, NH

 High School Plunge

Saturday, February 4th, 2017

You’ve registered, you’ve raised money, you’ve checked-in…
now it’s time to PLUNGE!

Plungers can arrive at Hampton Beach any time after 9am. We recommend that Plungers arrive by 10am if you have not already checked-in or by 11am if you have already checked-in at one of our remote check-in sites.

There are several metered parking lots available along the beach (meters aren’t active during the winter). There are also several parking lots along the side streets, as well as behind the Casino. If you need to check in, head to the Ashworth by the Sea Hotel. If you’ve already checked-in, go directly to the Casino Ballroom.
Plungers and their guests (all must have wristbands) relax at the Casino Ballroom before the Plunge.  At 11:30 the Costume Parade will take place on the street directly in front of the Casino Ballroom.
After the Costume Parade, Plungers head to the changing tents located on the boardwalk. There are three separate changing areas (male, female and faculty/staff). Plungers are assigned to a wave (which limits the number of people taking the Plunge at one time) during check-in. We recommend that Plungers do not leave valuables in the changing tents.
Each wave will be called separately. When a wave is called, those Plungers move from the Casino Ballroom to a staging area on the beach where the countdown begins. You should bring only items that you will take with you into the water into the staging area. When the timer hits zero, the wave runs down the beach and Plunges into the Atlantic Ocean!
As you exit the water, you will be handed a towel and directed back to the changing tents. After putting on dry clothes, you can walk across the street to the Casino Ballroom where soup and hot comfort foods will be waiting.
After all waves have Plunged, there will be an award ceremony in the Casino Ballroom.
Visit http://www.sonh.org/support-and-fundraising-events/Plunges/HS/day.aspx for more information, to register, or for Frequently Asked Questions.
